I hope that in 24 hours from now we will be in the air on our way to Mexico City. A small group of willing individuals headed to Mexico City willing to serve. To some people in the world, they might think, what can a group of 11 accomplish in a city of almost 20 million people. What difference will/can you make.
Matthew West has a new album out and one of the songs on the album is called "The Motions". The chorus has a huge challenge for me as it says - "I don't wanna go through the motions. I don't wanna go one more day without Your all consuming passion inside of me. I don't wanna spend my whole life asking, "What if I had given everything, instead of going through the motions?"" (You can listen to the song here.) If I listened to the doubters, I wouldn't get on the plane, but then I would probably be saying these lines from the song to myself come August.
So what difference can I make or a team of 11 make? Well, if I was the one trying to make the difference on my own, I don't think anything would change. BUT, I'm not the one making changes, it is God. I would like to share with you a line from todays devotional from our devotional book "Up Close". "There was no magic in the tiny lunch, just power in the hands that took it and multiplied something so small into something GREAT." (page 15) We may be small, but we have a God who can do immeasurably more than we can ever ask or imagine.
As we head out to Mexico City, what is your "Mexico City" that you could reach out to today?
Thank you for your continued prayers for us as a team. Please pray today as we do our final prep and say goodbye to our family and friends (we need to be at the airport at 5am tomorrow morning). Pray we would be effective and productive and that we wouldn't just go through the motions of a mission trip! Please pray for our families as they adjust to life without us around (that they wouldn't enjoy it too much :-)).
Blessings,
Pastor Terry
